If you and your girlfriend /fiancée or wife are in separate countries while you are deciding on who will prepare your visa application for you, you need to be made astutely aware of a grave and costly mistake that occurs quite often and could easily be avoided!.

If you give the responsibility to your girlfriend to ask around as to who could prepare the application here in Thailand, and to check out various offices and ask pertinent question, she will, nearly as much as 98% of the time accept the office that offers the cheapest quote. Her acceptance and delight in finding the cheapest quote will have nothing whatsoever to do with this particular office’s professionalism, expertise, qualifications, experience with international immigration laws. It will simply mean ‘it’s the cheapest therefore that’s a good thing’ …..in ‘her own little mind’.

From our extensive experience with over 20 years of immigration background, we have encountered this situation countless times. And rather than saving you money it actually has the opposite effect by costing you a lot more. Because, when the ‘cheap shop’ application fails and they refuse to give you the money back as verbally stated they would, ( no contracts with these offices oh-no!) you will end up possibly coming back to see me, and we now have to prepare a complete new application with our additional cost, and you will have to pay the embassies processing fee again. This is not to mention the endless waiting time again. She will also have a black refusal stamp, stamped into her passport.

There are endless small little tour shops…translation offices, all passing themselves off as visa and immigration consultants and guess what …there’re cheap!, but no guarantees. Immigration laws are now tough and have been designed to be extremely strenuous and very subjective as all western countries are experiencing immigration problems. Even if it’s only a short stay tourist visa application she will have to meet a rigid ruling, under a certain immigration law of that particular country. If she doesn’t meet the regulation and requirement, she will be denied. Now ask yourself this question , what would this little ‘tour office’ or ‘translation offices’ know about the complex British or US immigration acts and the various paragraphs of law therein. How would they possibly know what requirements are necessary to allow a foreign national, clearance to enter the UK or other western country or even Australia or the U.S

It’s now become a specialist matter. However our point remains. These young Thai ladies due to their lack of wealth throughout their life and their obvious frugal upbringing, have been forced to show paramount respect for saving money so they fail to identify false economy. We have all heard the phrase ‘pay cheap buy twice’ and nothing could be more relevant than with this current occurrence. More often than not these small tour offices are run and operated by the local Thai people so your lovely lady will be easily intimidated to use their services. She’ll be taken in by their charming yarns and of course the low cost. Effectively she needs to be told that you are in charge. You are the one with the education and therefore in a more positive and meaningful position to ask important question to such an office.
